19th Century Casket Discovered In Scott County

Video will be available shortly

An investigation is underway in Scott County after construction workers dug up a 19th century casket.

Archaeologists are working to identify some 19th century human remains found in Stamping Ground.

Later this week, a Cincinnati anthropologist will visit the construction site.

The Scott County Coroner says the anthropologist will remove the bones from the casket to determine age and gender among other things.

The remains were found near the First Baptist Church in Stamping Ground, but there's no record of a burial ground on or near the land.

Next week, archaeologists will survey the area to see if there are other caskets in the area.
