Zoning Change For Ethanol Plant Approved

HENDERSON, Ky. (AP) - A zoning change has been approved by the Henderson City-County Planning Commission for an ethanol plant on the Henderson-Webster County line.

The plant is proposed by Kentucky Five Star Energy LLC and will be constructed on 153 acres. Only 20 acres of the site for the 50-million-gallon plant are within Henderson County.

Webster County does not have zoning for rural areas. Chief Engineer Ken Ferry of the Henderson Water Utility noted that how the proposed plant will receive water service has not yet been determined.

The request for heavy industrial zoning without a development plan now goes to Henderson Fiscal Court.
