The game kicks off tomorrow but the ball that will be used is already being carried. They started early this morning at Commonwealth Stadium and they'll make their way to Papa John's Stadium in Louisville covering the entire distance on foot.
Before the sun has come up, they fill the bleachers to prepare for the run.
Head Football Coach Joker Phillips talks to the cadets, thanking them for their support. The partnership between the football team and the ROTC has allowed the leader of each group to influence the other.
"You try to show them everything on the practice field, like they try to show them everything they'll see on the battlefield when the bullets start flying. Our bullets start flying on Saturday," said Coach Phillips.
The ball is handed off to begin the journey. Groups of cadets will carry it out Old Frankfort Pike and down US 60 to meet up with UofL ROTC cadets who will carry on the mission.
Between 3 and 4:30 Friday afternoon, UK and UofL cadets will meet in Shelbyville to exchange the game ball. Once inside the stadium one UK and one UofL cadet will carry the ball to the game official.
