Interstate 64 in Montgomery County was down to one lane for several hours on Friday afternoon after a deadly crash involving several motorcycles and a car.

It happened just before 1:00pm along westbound I-64, just east of the Mt. Sterling exit in Montgomery County.

Three motorcycles, carrying two passengers apiece were pulled over in the emergency lane. We're told they had stopped to put on rain gear.

Police say a pickup truck came over into the emergency lane to avoid another car and plowed into those bikes.

Two people died. The coroner tells us it was a couple from Oklahoma. Six people total were taken to the hospital in Mt. Sterling. Police say the driver and passenger in the pickup truck were treated and released.

We don't know about the conditions of the other motorcyclists.
