Outrage on the University of Kentucky campus today as hundreds of students protest a cartoon that appeared in the student newspaper.

The cartoon ran this morning, and hours later students were on the streets protesting.
The cartoon raised the issues of slavery, segregation, and hate.
Students say the picture represent a dark part of history that should stay in history.

A spokesperson for the university says the Kentucky Kernel is an independent publication with the rights to print what it wants, and students, as U.S. Citizens, have the right to protest.

Oh please spare me Mike. Are you an African American? Probably not, so you don't know.

This picture is a poor representation of the cartoon. It's focus was really that white Greek organizations are being slow to integrate and was not meant, according to the cartoonist, himself, to offend anyone in the black community. It was misinterpreted and taken out of context.

The University of Kentucky should not support the Kernel and the spokesperson should have openly condemned the cartoon.
