Updated: Wed 8:49 AM, Oct 10, 2007

The NTSB has released its preliminary report on a plane crash that left some well-known Lexington businessmen injured.

In the report, released on Tuesday, the pilot claims he checked the fuel gauges on an earlier leg of the journey. He said they were all between three-fourths and a full tank. He says the flight was only an hour and 20 minutes and he thought he had enough fuel for a three hour flight.

In the report the pilot also says once he took off from the Birmingham airport, he noticed the gauges were showing they were almost empty. He says once he noticed that, he started heading towards Chattanooga.

The plane crashed just short of the runway in Chattanooga, landing in a parking lot, hitting a light pole and several cars.

Don and Daren turner and another family member were hurt, but none of their injuries were life-threatening.

The plane was on its way back to the Georgetown airport.
