Thieves target home of cancer patient's mother

A woman helping her daughter get treatment for cancer now faces two setbacks.

She says burglars broke into her Madison County home twice over the past several weeks.

Now she wants to know who would do this to a family, already dealing with a horrible situation.

Catherine Plowman says the thieves took guns, jewelry, cash, a safe and most recently her big screen television. She fears it may be someone she knows, watching her routine.

"Someone who knows me and knows what I'm going through," says Plowman.

She says what's even worse is the crimes are happening while she takes her sick daughter Tena Sowers to cancer treatments in Lexington. Her home has been hit twice in the last six weeks.

As if the cancer treatments aren't bad enough, Plowman says this has added more stress on her daughter.

"It's sad that during sickness, that they would just keep robbing me,"

But Plowman says she won't let the thieves keep her from taking care of the one she loves.

"I just have to make a choice, what's most important," says Plowman.

Plowman says another home was targeted right down the road, which she says has brought this neighborhood together more than ever.
