A family accused of living in filth answered to criminal abuse charges on Friday morning.

Police say James Flood, his wife, Jean, and their son, James subjected two children and a 99-year-old man to live in disgusting conditions.

A grand jury indicted all three. They had a not guilty plea entered on their behalf in court on Friday.

Investigators say they found the 99-year-old man, lying in his own waste, locked in a bedroom at the home on Bryan Benson Road in Franklin County. Investigators say the home was filthy and roach infested.

The man found in the home has ben taken to an assisted living facility. The children were removed from the home, but we hear they are now back at the home.

The judge has not set a date for the next hearing for the three defendants.
