Teenager Recovering After High Speed Chase

A teenager is recovering at UK Hospital after police say he led them on high speed chase through two counties which ended in a violent crash.

Police in Mercer County say they tried to pull over 16-year-old Joey Taylor, wanted for parole violation. Police say when they tried to pull him over, Taylor tried to ram a police cruiser then took off.

The chase reached speeds of more than 110 mph as Taylor led police into Garrard County. During the course of the chase, he lost control and crashed along U.S. 27 near Lancaster.

Taylor was thrown from the vehicle and sustained some serious injuries. He was then airlifted from the scene.

Taylor is still recovering from injuries, listed in stable condition at the UK Medical Center.

He is facing several felony charges in both Mercer and Garrard counties.
