A Fort Campbell soldier is behind bars, charged with killing two women. State police say 29-year-old Brent Burke killed his estranged wife and
her former mother-in-law from her previous marriage.

The women were found dead in September at their home in Rineyville. Three children were inside with the bodies, having hid in the house after witnessing the shootings. The next day, one boy called 911.

Police say Brent Burke and his 31-year-old wife Tracy were going through a bitter divorce. He is now charged with her murder, and the murder of 53-year-old Karen Comer. He is also facing a charge of cruelty to animals for killing the family dog.

Burke had no attorney, so the court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

He is being held on a two-point-one million dollar bond.

Burke is a military police officer stationed at Fort Campbell.
