Jury Finds Man Guilty Of Drive-By Shooting Murder

A Lexington man has been convicted of murder in a shooting death in July last year.

Reginald Coleman shot 36-year-old Theatrice Wortham as Wortham sat in the passenger seat of a van on a Lexington street. Witnesses say a few words were exchanged, then Coleman leaned over and shot Wortham.

Coleman at first denied his involvement when questioned by police, but when he was arrested several months later, prosecutors say Coleman admitted his guilt. Jurors deliberated three hours before finding Coleman guilty of murder and tampering with physical evidence.

They later recommended Coleman be sentenced to 20 years in prison. He would be eligible for parole after serving 17 years. Sentencing is set for November second.
