A man with a violent history, charged with killing a young central Kentucky boy, now knows when he'll head to trial.
A judge in Bourbon County set the trial date for Louis "Buck " Ballard for July 10th of next year.
Police say Ballard killed six-year-old Wesley Mullins this summer in a garage in Bourbon County. Ballard was staying with Mullin's grandfather. Mullins lived in Winchester.
At Friday's hearing, the judge also ordered that all evidence be preserved, including forensics, fingerprints and photos.
The defense asked for more time to go inspect the crime scene. Mullin's grandfather has put the home up for sale. The judge told defense lawyers that they need to inspect the scene before that sale goes through.
Ballard will return to court on December 11th for another pre-trial hearing.
