A lot of questions still surround the motive of the shooting. Police didn't give out many details about that. But they say the two men had some kind of argument Thursday, and it ended with one man dead, and another charged with murder.

“A lot of ambulances, police cars; a helicopter landed in the field up there,” said Bobby Davidson, who didn’t find out until Friday afternoon what all the commotion was Thursday night at a church close to his Laurel County home.

Davidson thought police had Ward Cemetery Road blocked off because of an accident. He saw the vehicles in the Star of Bethlehem Church parking lot. But instead of a crash, it was a crime scene. Police say John Phillips shot Phillip Glodo in the back of the head.

“He had some life left in him,” says Laurel County Sheriff Fred Yaden of Glodo, after police first arrived. “But he passed away shortly thereafter. Also on the scene was the accused. He didn't flee or anything. He was still there.”

In fact, police say Phillip's wife was the one who called them to report the incident.

“She was quite upset and of course he (John Phillips) was, too,” Yaden said.

Phillips was charged with murder and he remains in jail. His wife said the two men were friends or acquaintances’ before the tragic event.
