Historic Church In Stanford Restored

Video will be available shortly

For the first time in over 200 years, services were held at a historic Stanford church.

The community has worked for the past several years to restore the Presbyterian Meeting House on Main Street.

Today, everyone was invited there for what they hope will become an annual fall celebration of Lincoln County's history.

All of the seats were full for today's historical sermon.

They even gathered outside of the old one room log church for the celebration.
Built back in 1792, this church is considered one of the oldest in the state.

Lincoln County residents filed in to the Old Presbyterian Meeting House to worship for the first time in 205 years.

Community members have been working for years to restore the building and create a new gathering place for a new generation.

Today, this building also houses the Lincoln County museum and is home to the Historical Society. It's got a lot of history, and Reverend Erwin hopes all of Lincoln County will take advantage of the history lesson.

They hope to have this sermon and celebration every year. The museum is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, and is located on Main Street in Stanford.
