PSC Approves Rate Hike For Delta Gas

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - State regulators have approved a six-point-four percent rate increase for Delta Natural Gas, which serves much of eastern Kentucky.

The state Public Service Commission says an average customer's bill will increase five-and-a-half dollars under the new rate. As part of the revenue increase approved yesterday, residential natural gas customers will pay 15-dollars-and-50-cents monthly in fixed charges, up from ten dollars.

Delta's territory includes an area roughly south of Interstate 64 and east of Interstate 75. It offers service to nearly 40-thousand Kentucky customers in more than 20 counties.

Delta initially asked for a nine-point-two percent increase. The utility and the state attorney general's office reached a compromise on the size of the increase last month.
