Homeowner Returns Home To Confront Burglar

A burglary at a Richmond home today ends up with the suspect coming face-to-face with the man who lives there.

It happened on Leverton Place around 1:00 this afternoon. Police tell 27 NEWSFIRST no one was home initially, but the resident returned while the suspect was still inside.

The homeowner confronted the suspect, who then fled. The homeowner chased the suspect to the nearby Hines Motel. Police say he later caused a standoff at the hotel. Police obtained a warrant, busted in the room's door and arrested him.

The suspect has been identified as David Powell.
