Chemical Leak Forces Families To Evacuate

Posted: Tue 6:20 PM, Oct 23, 2007

RACELAND, Ky. (AP) - Officials say residents near a suspected
hydrochloric acid leak in northeastern Kentucky can return to
normal.
Officials had ordered residents to stay indoors while they
inspected a CSX rail yard in Raceland.
Monday night more than two dozen families were forced to evacuate and four school systems in two states were closed on Tuesday.
Officials in Greenup County say that there is no leaking
coming from the rail car.
The evacuation happened after CSX workers reported a suspicious
white cloud around a tank containing hydrochloric acid.
