Two men are recovering after a footbridge they were standing on collapsed into a creek overnight at the Pennington Place Apartments.

The 19-year-old Dewayne Marlar and 18-year old Robert Lockheart were returning to their apartment on Codell Drive when the bridge gave way.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene just before 1 A.M. Rescue workers were able to pull the two from the waters.

EMS workers said one of the men was complaining about back pain and they were concerned both may have suffered hypothermia because of the temperature of the water.

Both were treated at a hospital, but have since been released.

Police are investigating to see how the bridge collapsed.
