A fire ripped through an apartment complex in Lexington overnight.

Firefighters were called to the Westminster Village Apartments on Versailles Road, just after 1 A.M. When they arrived, flames had engulfed two corner apartments in one building.

Firefighters had to call out another engine and shut down Versailles Road for about two hours until the fire was out.

Debbie Ward says the fire started in her apartment. She says her 13-year-old son, Charlie, heard the fire alarms, then woke her up to get out of their home. The people who live in the apartments got out okay. No was one hurt fighting the flames.

Officials are investigating how the fire started.

The Red Cross is providing food, clothes, and shelter for the people who had to leave their apartments.
