LEXINGTON, Ky. - A school administrator in Boone County says none of the eight cases of staph infection at Larry A. Ryle High School are antibiotic resistant.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports in this morning's editions that Superintendent Bryan Blavatt said none of the cases are the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, and all the students are being treated with antibiotics.
In Lexington, school officials await a report on one case of staph at Lafayette High School, but are reacting with the assumption that it could be MRSA.
The school was scrubbed yesterday as workers cleaned floors, door knobs and other likely places were infection could be passed.
