Human Bones Found In Pulaski County Neighborhood

Updated: Wed 6:26 PM, Oct 24, 2007

A team of archeologists from the UK are expected either Thursday or Friday to further examine the area. The coroner says why a person was buried here possibly a hundred years ago remains a mystery.

There are a lot of questions over why a person was buried in what's now a sprawling development south of Somerset.

“We believe it was probably a female. Probably in the teens, according to the bones there's some indication it was cancer,” says Pulaski County Coroner Richard New.

At first investigators thought it was a crime scene. They activated the major crimes task force. But a closer look at the bones by the medical examiner ruled out any sort of recent foul play.

The man operating a bulldozer discovered a skull Tuesday night. He called police, but now, plans to build two houses there are put on hold until archeologists finish their work.
