Air Fares Rise Sharply At Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport

Posted: Thu 9:20 AM, Oct 25, 2007

WASHINGTON (AP) - Not only does Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport have the nation's highest air fares, but it's also where ticket prices are rising the fastest.

The federal Transportation Department reports travelers flying in or out of Cincinnati during the second quarter of this year paid fares averaging $562, up 6.7 percent from a year earlier. Both the fare and the increase were the steepest in the country.

Officials at the airport in suburban Hebron, Ky., have blamed its traditionally high prices on the facility's dominance by Delta Air Lines.
