Water Restrictions Lifted In Madison, Garrard Counties

Updated: Fri 2:10 PM, Oct 26, 2007

A big change was announced Friday for some water customers in central Kentucky.

Berea Municipal Utilities canceled its Mandatory Water Alert. People there were under a total outdoor watering ban that was put in place in mid-September.

The ban effected people in Berea, the Southern Madison Water District, and the Garrard County Water Association.

Recent heavy rain, coupled with reduced water usage raised water levels in the reservoirs to the point that restrictions are no longer needed. Water officials want to remind customers that we are still in a drought and conservation efforts are always a good idea.
