A Franklin County man faces charges tonight after police say he had sex with a 14-year-old girl he met online.
22-year-old Gary Smith allegedly met the girl on MySpace.com.
Commonwealth's Attorney Larry Cleveland says the two exchanged e-mails and instant messages, before meeting for sex.
Cleveland says this crime falls under a new statute that makes it illegal to use a computer to find a victim for sexual assault.
Cleveland also says this type of crime is on the rise.
Smith is facing rape, sodomy, and other charges. He could be sentenced to up to 20 years in jail.
He is scheduled to be in court tomorrow.
