Kentucky National Guard Surpasses Recruiting Goals

Updated: Thu 6:26 PM, Nov 01, 2007

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Maj. Gen. Donald Storm says the Kentucky National Guard has surpassed its recruiting goals again this year.

Storm, Kentucky's adjutant general, says it's the fourth year in the row that the Guard has exceeded recruiting goals.

During the last fiscal year, the Guard recruited 1,427 soldiers and the Kentucky Air National Guard had 121 recruits.

Storm says the Guard has also recruited an extra 43 troops since then, bringing the total count to 8,405 troops.

Storm says the Guard's recruiting numbers are up for different reasons including education benefits, tuition assistance and patriotism.

The Guard has four store front recruiting offices in the state, located in Florence, Frankfort, Lexington and Paducah.
