FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Fresh off his victory over Gov. Ernie Fletcher in Tuesday's election, Democrat Steve Beshear is pledging to seek bi-partisan cooperation with lawmakers in pushing his agenda next year.
Beshear is promising to put together an administration that listens to people. He spoke to reporters outside a Frankfort hotel.
One of Beshear's first tasks will be filling top administration posts, and the governor-elect says announcements will begin Thursday and continue over the next few weeks leading to the inauguration. Beshear says one clear message sent by voters is that they want a referendum on casino gambling on next year's ballot.
Beshear won with 59 percent of the vote to Fletcher's 41 percent.
