Governor's Mansion Traditions

The Governor's Mansion is undergoing a transition phase of its own. before Governor-Elect Steve Beshear and his wife move in.

One custom is that the first lady leaves a white cake for the next first lady. Also, the outgoing governor usually leaves a letter, and a bottle of wine somewhere in the mansion for his successor.

The traditions are considered "friendly gestrures" -- and are not required.
