Church Snakebite Victim's Family Sues Hospital

Posted: Thu 9:04 AM, Nov 08, 2007

The family of a woman who died, after being bitten by a rattlesnake during a church service in London, has filed suit against Marymount Medical Center.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports, the lawsuit states that instead of providing proper care for 48-year-old Linda Long, hospital staff made derogatory comments about her religious beliefs.

Long was bitten on the face by a rattlesnake during a service at East London Holiness Church in 2006.

Long's family says as she struggled to breathe, hospital employees continued to joke, even giving her a portable fan when she asked for oxygen.

Long was airlifted to UK Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
