Archbishop Attends Louisville Abortion Protest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville's archbishop clutched a rosary as he prayed in front of a downtown abortion clinic.

Archbishop Joseph Kurtz joined about 250 people in a prayer vigil Saturday.

It was his first appearance there. Kurtz took over as archbishop in August

Demonstrators regularly gather outside the clinic on Saturday mornings.

Another priest, the Reverend Peter West, attended the demonstration. He says it's important that the church show leadership in its fight to end abortion. The early morning vigil was mostly peaceful.
