Veterans Day is a time to honor the men and women who served this country, during times of war and times of peace, as well as those currently making the sacrifice.
Several Kentucky communities are holding services today.
Today, hundreds of people honored Kentucky's veterans at a ceremony held at the Frankfort Convention Center.
The ceremony consisted of several Veterans Day traditions, including the Presentation of Colors, Taps, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a 21-gun salute.
Yesterday, hundreds attended a ceremony at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County, where more than 12-thousand soldiers are buried.
In Southern Kentucky, many took time to honor a soldier killed while on duty in Iraq.
Staff Sergeant Chris Hamlin of Laurel County was killed in May after a bomb exploded near his vehicle.
He was 24 years old.
Officials renamed Shelter Lane in London Chris Hamlin Memorial Lane in his honor.
Hamlin started his military career as a member of the North Laurel High School ROTC.
