The injury bug appears to have bitten the basketball Wildcats again. Multiple sources tell 27 SportsFirst that guard Jodie Meeks will be out of action indefinitely, suffering from a stress fracture in his groin area. The extent of the injury isn’t known, but the initial assessment has Meeks missing up to four weeks.

Meeks, a sophomore from Norcross, Georgia, hasn’t practiced since the day after UK’s stunning loss to Gardner-Webb last week. UK officials would neither confirm, nor deny, the story. Coach Billy Gillispie isn’t scheduled to speak to the media until next week.

The 6-foot-4 guard scored 34 points in UK’s exhibition game against Pikeville. Meeks was selected a freshman All-American by Collegeinsider.com.

The Wildcats host Liberty next Wednesday.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW:TO ALL THE TUBBY HATERS.I ANTICIPATE THE DAY BILLY G OR ANY COACH TO WIN 26 STRAIGHT GAMES(02-03).AS FORMER PLAYER THE BEST TEAM I'VE SEEN,MAN FOR MAN WAS THE FAB 5,THEY DIDN'T WIN IT ALL.MANY OF WANT TO SAY TUBBY WON IT ALL WITH PITINO'S PLAYERS,NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE OR DICE IT YOU GOT TO BE ABLE TO COACH TO WIN IT ALL(FAB 5).IF YOU DON'T THINK BILLY G DON'T HAVE BIG SHOES TO FILL YOU ARE ON THE SHORT BUS.AND I AM NOT HATING BY ANY MEANS.COACHES AND ATHLETE DON'T MAKE EXCUSES,THEY KNOW WHAT'S UP.SI DID A STORY I RECALL,FROM KY.SHAME TO KY.FAME,THAT WAS UNDER PITINO.TODAY,PEOPLE PUT HIM UNDER THE BUS.HONESTLY,I ROOT FOR KY.BUT IT JUST TURNS ME OFF WHEN PEOPLE DISRESPECT PITINO AND TUBBY WHEN THEY DID SO MUCH FOR KY.BB AND THE STATE.THESE GUYS STILL SHOW KY.LOVE.BILLY G KNOWS HE HAS BIG SHOES TO FILL IN THIS ENVIROMENT.I'M JUST ANTICIPATING BILLY SIGNING THE HORSES YOU NEED TO WIN LIKE KY.EXPECT TO WIN.FOR REAL,THE PENDELUM HAS CHANGED IN COLLEGE BB FOR SOMETIME NOW

Go Big Blue...beat Georgia!!! It's football season!!

Posted by: Jeremy Location: Lex on Nov 14, 2007 at 12:01 PM
Just add that to the list! Man, who knows what is going to happen this season. Most people who have no sense would blame Billy G for the already stunning loss, but its all Tubby's fault. Billy G will have to make up for 10 years of bad recruiting and help peice back together a program that Tubby drug through the dirt. AND WOW! TUBBY SAID HE WAS GOING TO RUN A FAST PACE TEMPO STYLE OF B-BALL AT MINN. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM??? THANKS FOR NOTHING TUBBY!

HELP,HELP,HELP.I SAY THIS FOR VARIOUS REASONS.NO TEAM CAN AFFORD INJURIES,UNFORTUNATELY WHEN YOU COMPETE ON THIS LEVEL,IT'S GONNA HAPPEN.JODIE MEEKS IS ONE OF THE BETTER YOUNG MEN YOU'LL EVER MEET.HIS DEDICATION AND COMMITTMENT WILL GET HIM WELL SOON.I SAY HELP,HELP,HELP COMES FROM THE ARTICLE ABOUT BILLY G'S PRESSURE D.WHEN YOU GET BEAT BACK DOOR AS KY.GOT BEAT BACK DOOR BY GARDNER-WEBB IT'S ALL ABOUT YOUR HELP.I USE TO LOVE WHEN MY TEAM WOULD OVER PLAY.I WOULD STEP IN TAKE A CHARGE OR HEAD THE OTHER WAY WITH A STEAL.FUNDAMENTAL BASKETBALL IS,THERE'S ONLY 1 BALL ON THE COURT AND YOU KNOW WHERE IT IS AT ALL TIMES.PRESSURE D REQUIRES WHEN YOU ARE NOT PLAYING ON THE BALL,YOU ANTICIPATE THE NEXT PASS.THIS TEAM HAS GREAT KIDS,SO MY WISH FOR THEM THIS SEASON IS TO,PRACTICE AND PLAY EACH GAME AS THEIR MASTERPIECE.ACCEPTING THAT IT'S OK TO HAVE A BAD DAY,BUT NOT TWO IN A ROW.AND THAT THEY ARE SUCCESSFUL WHEN THEY MAKE A SUSTAIN EFFORT EACH AND EVERYDAY.JUST KEEP BEING COACHABLE.GO BIG BLUE.
