Appalachian Nurses Remain On The Picket Line

HARLAN, Ky. (AP) - Appalachian nurses are still on strike and though the sides have been talking, the nurses' chief negotiator says no significant movement has been made.

The labor disagreement between nurses and Appalachian Regional Healthcare has been tough on people, whether they're walking the picket line or crossing it.

Jerry Blevens has stood his ground for seven weeks, walking the line and thinking about his mortgage, his tearful wife and their four children.

Pam Pace has chosen to cross the picket line, saying someone has to take care of the patients.

Her car tires have been slashed and her name is written on a "wall of shame" posted outside the hospital.
