Man Sets Brush Fire, Leads Police On Chase

Updated: Wed 3:10 PM, Nov 21, 2007

The search continues for a suspected arsonist, wanted for setting a fire and leading police on a high speed chase.

Lincoln County fire crews responded to Spice Ridge Road, just south of Stanford. An off-duty firefighter happened to be driving by, when he saw a man setting several fires in a wooded area. He called 911, and fire crews quickly joined him at the scene.

Firefighters say five to six acres of brush burned. They were able to put out the fire. No one was injured.

Police noticed a car matching the description of the arson suspect and started chasing him. Police chased after the suspect, but he got away.

While no arrest has been made, police say they know who they're looking for.
