Fire at plant forces evacuation

A fire at a central Kentucky plant forced more than 100 employees to evacuate Friday morning.

It happened at the Aichi Forge plant in Scott County.

Company officials say the fire started in a large piece of equipment used for cutting. The machinery had a number of filters in it.

Officials say the filters somehow caught fire and started smoldering, causing heavy smoke.

All 125 employees at the plant were evacuated from the building, and company officials say their own firefighters worked until the Scott County Fire Department arrived.

Fire officials say they helped get the fire out, and they promptly worked to get smoke out of the building.

They also ran air quality and carbon monoxide tests in all areas of the building before workers went back inside.

Firefighters say this is the second time in as many years they've responded to a fire at Aichi Forge.

Officials say no one was hurt in the fire.
