Snow line is beginning to crash into parts of central Kentucky. The rate of snow will pick-up this evening and into the overnight. Some of these snow bands could produce 1"-2" per hour at times.
VANCEBURG, KY -- A 62-year old Vanceburg woman was killed and three other area residents injured in a two car collision Friday night in Lewis County, in northeastern Kentucky.
The Kentucky State Police identify the victim as Carolynn McCann. The accident report also says 40 year old Steve McCann, a passenger in the same vehicle, was injured and taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia.
Linda Toller, also of Vanceburg, a passenger in the other vehicle, was injured and taken to Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. No age was listed for her in the report.
Police say a vehicle operated by Kevin Bare, of Quincy, KY, was traveling west on KY Route 10 in Lewis County when it crossed the center line striking a vehicle operated by McCann head-on. McCann was ejected from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Lewis County Coroner Tony Gardos. Bare was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia.
A fifth person, 28-yearold William Hankins, Jr. of Flatwoods, a passenger in the vehicle with Bare, apparently was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation by Detective Larry Bowling of the KSP Post at Morehead.
