OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - One person has died in a small-plane crash in western Kentucky.

Daviess County Sheriff's Department Captain Jeff Jones says the pilot was the only person on board the twin-engine Cessna when it crashed south of Owensboro shortly after 5 p.m. CST. The pilot's name hasn't been released pending notification of family.

Jones says the plane had left Evansville, Indiana, and was on its way to the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are expected to arrive early Tuesday to continue the investigation.
