Clerk Shot During Robbery

A Central Kentucky gas station clerk is recovering after a violent robbery early this morning.

Two armed men held up the Shell Station on Main Street in Georgetown, the clerk was shot as he tried to hide inside a back room.

The clerk was expected to undergo surgery some time today on his hand. Employees at the store where he worked say he may lose a finger.

While the clerk receives treatment here in Lexington, police in Georgetown search for the men who put him there.

The robbery happened just after four this morning, when police say two men entered the gas station with guns drawn. The clerk tried to run away and that's when shots were fired. At least one bullet hit the clerk in the hand.

They got away with money and police canvassed the area with dogs.

The surveillance video shows the men with masks covering their faces and hoods over their heads.

The clerk's condition has not been released and police and store employees would not identify him.
