Pedestrian Dies After Car Accident

A Lexington man has died after being hit by a car crossing Man o'War.

Police say John Vice, 31, tried to cross Man o'War at Lyon Drive around 9:00 Tuesday morning when he was hit by a car driven by Shiela Whitler of Lexington.

Vice was taken to UK Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Vice's friends, Gene and Mary Welsh tell 27NEWSFIRST they saw him walking a nearby bus stop just before the accident. They say Vice had recently wrecked his car, but told his friends he'd rather walk.

We're told the 31 year old worked for UPS in Lexington. Vice's friends say he attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate studies, then went on to earn his Master's degree at Morehead State.

The driver has not been charged.

Police say the accident is under investigation.
