Police File Murder Charge In Traffic Crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police charged a driver with murder after a crash that closed down both directions of the Watterson Expressway and killed a person in a tractor-trailer early Thursday.

Metro Police spokesman Phil Russell said officers charged Emily Hall, 20, of Louisville with murder, second offense DUI, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.

Investigators said Hall was westbound on the expressway around 2 a.m. swerved into the truck's lane, causing it to run off the road and into a sign that split the tractor in half, throwing out a man in the sleeper cab.

He was killed and the woman who was driving suffered injuries, as did Hall, said Russell.

Police didn't release the names of the people in the truck, but said they were from Ontario, Canada.

The man killed was 53 years old and the woman driving was 48, police said.
