Snow line is beginning to crash into parts of central Kentucky. The rate of snow will pick-up this evening and into the overnight. Some of these snow bands could produce 1"-2" per hour at times.
Dr. Hamid Hussain Shiekh has practiced medicine in Lexington since 1975. He's a licensed OB/GYN who also performs abortions, but the investigations surrounding Dr. Shiekh aren't about whether he's performing these abortions, but about how he charges for them, as well as the conditions in which he does them.
We are now learning more about other allegations against Dr. Shiekh.
27 NEWSFIRST obtained complaints from patients who say the office was unfit, citing unsanitary conditions such as blood on the floor and nurses who didn't wear gloves. Other claims included lack of heat in the office, and painful procedures performed without anesthesia.
The patients filed their grievances with the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure, who says it's conducting an investigation.
Today, Dr. Sheikh pleaded not guilty in court to fraud charges.
Investigators say Dr. Sheikh performed abortions and then illegally billed the state, calling the procedures ultrasounds.
In an interview with 27 NEWSFIRST, Dr. Sheikh says he did nothing wrong. He also says his Lexington clinic will remain open and he will continue to see patients until ordered otherwise.
If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
