Heavy snow is taking its time moving through the state of Kentucky. This will be a historic once its all said and done with a few spots around a foot of snow.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky woman was sentenced to nearly a year in jail for forgetting her infant daughter because she was high on drugs.
Stacey Johnson of Breathitt County pleaded guilty Friday to endangering the welfare of a child and public intoxication. A judge sentenced her to 360 days in jail.
The 22-year-old woman left her 9-month-old daughter with a work release inmate on break at the Powell County courthouse last summer, even though the inmate said she could not watch the child, police said.
Johnson was found wandering outside the courthouse about 15 minutes later and was arrested.
She told police she was high on meth and Valium and couldn't remember where she left her child.
