A lot has changed since Anthany Beatty took an oath to serve and protect in 1973, but over the years the chief has risen through the ranks and made many friends along the way; many of whom were on hand to celebrate his achievements Friday night.

They gathered together to remember is career. Some told funny stories and others shared old pictures; a few of which the chief would have probably preferred to have been lost.

27 NEWFIRST investigative reporter Jermont Terry served as the night's master of ceremony for the light-hearted event.

Chief Beatty will still maintain a strong presence in the Lexington community. He will begin a new position as Vice President of Public Services for the University of Kentucky.
