U.S. 460 between Mt Sterling and Camargo in Montgomery County is back open following a deadly crash.
Montgomery County Sheriff Fred Shortridge says the crash happened before 7 Friday morning.
He says the driver of a red Monte Carlo was swerving across the center line and hit a Maxima head on, killing the woman behind the wheel of the Maxima.
Officers say the driver in front of the woman saw the driver of the Monte Carlo swerving and got out of his path, but the woman wasn't able to.
The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Melinda Kazee.
The driver of the Monte Carlo was airlifted to University of Kentucky Hospital. Officers say the man, believed to be in his forties or fifties, had just dropped a child off at school.
Police say they are trying to determine if speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
