Governor Fletcher and Governor Elect Beshear, along with their wives, put their hands together to turn on the lights.
The festivity was the icing on the cake after a night of food song and fun.
It was also a historic moment.
Two men in their position had never come together in an event like this before.
That's because it was the first time in modern history a Governor Elect ousted a Governor who had could have possibly run for a second term.
While the men have been opponents, it was all friendly Monday night.
The men said they were glad to share the opportunity to partake in a Kentucky tradition together.
Governor Elect Steve Beshear says tonight was not only the kickoff of the holiday season, but a new season in his life.
He says he's looking forward to being sworn in as Governor next week, and that he plans to bring people together from all walks of live to build up Kentucky's government.
