The trial of a Lexington woman, accused of killing a 22-month-old in 2004, continued Monday morning after a three day break.
Sarah Taylor, the defendant, took the stand in her own defense.
Police say Taylor killed Madison Cundiff, the daughter of her ex-boyfriend, while the girl was in her care.
Monday, Taylor testified that she took care of Madison often, after starting a relationship with her father, David Cundiff.
The night of Madison's death, Taylor claims she was doing laundry when she heard the girl fall down several stairs.
She says she then picked Madison up, and called several people for help, before calling 911. But Madison later died.
Taylor claims the death was just an accident.
The prosecution then cross-examined Taylor on the stand.
Both sides in the case rested Monday afternoon.
Closing arguments are expected to begin Tuesday morning, with the case going to the jury after that.
