Flooding Problems Across The Bluegrass

Updated: Thu 5:58 PM, Dec 13, 2007

The rain has moved on for much of the state, but in its wake, some major flooding remains.

Heavy rain fell overnight, causing water to cover some roads throughout the area.

People across Kentucky are watching creeks and streams, hoping they don't go above flood stage. Those who live along flood-prone Stoner Creek in Bourbon County are among those keeping a watchful eye on the water. That area has been under a flood warning for much of the day.

In Fleming County, high water caused some serious problems today.

The rain started up again around midnight, and caused flash flooding across much of eastern Kentucky. That meant for many homeowners, when they woke up this morning, they were greeted with high water.

Water levels at a nearby creek quickly rose overnight and completely blocked access to the main roadway, keeping some homeowners from being able to leave their property.

The 27 NEWSFIRST First Alert Weather Team says heavy rain is not expected this evening. All previous flood watches in eastern Kentucky have been cancelled.
