LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Mitch Barnhart is getting a new five-year contract extension that will keep him as Kentucky's athletics director through 2012.
The University of Kentucky's athletics board was meeting Thursday afternoon to approve the contract, which calls for an annual base salary of $475,000, along with various incentives. Barnhart's contract was previously extended in 2005 and set to expire in 2009.
"He's done an outstanding job," university President Lee Todd Jr. said. "He's developed an experienced high level management team to lead this athletics department."
