LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Package liquor sales are now legal on Sundays in Lexington.
The Urban County Council changed the ordinance earlier this year and the first legal Sunday sales took place over the weekend.
Package stores can now sell liquor from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays in Lexington.
More than two dozen shoppers were waiting in the parking lot for the Liquor Barn to open Sunday.
Tara Carter bought a bottle of red wine for a party Sunday evening and said it was the convenience of the statute that she finds attractive.
At his smaller Thoroughbred Shop, Sal Marino said he had 36 customers in the first three hours and said his Sunday sales were
nothing to get excited about.
