A Georgetown man accused in a violent home invasion in Scott County took the stand on Tuesday, hoping to get some charges against him dropped.
Stanley Stander is accused of going into a Georgetown home back on May 31st and tying up and beating the elderly couple who lives there. Investigators say Stander then stole the couple's car and led police on a chase that ended in northern Kentucky.
At Tuesday's hearing, investigators took the stand, testifying about statements Stander made on the night of his arrest. They say he wouldn't stop talking that night, even after being read his rights.
Stander also took the stand. He claims he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol on the night of the crime and doesn't remember what happened. He still maintains someone else was involved in the home invasion.
The judge did not issue any ruling on Thursday. He says he needs more time to sift through the evidence and statements made by Stander to figure out what will be allowed at Stander's trial.
Stander's trial is set for late January, but it could be postponed.
The couple involved in that home invasion, Ralph and Mattie Michaels have both recovered from their injuries.
