Two KY Men Receive National Award For Heroism

A Lexington police officer is honored for his heroism.

Officer Bryan Jared pulled the lone survivor of the flight 5191 crash out of the wreckage in August of last year.

Thursday morning, Jared was recognized as a recipient of the of the Carnegie Medal. The medal is awarded to people who risk their lives while saving, or attempting to save, the lives of others.

In addition to the medal, Jared will also get a $5,000 grant from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission.

Another Kentucky man, Seth Hooks of Cadiz, is also a recipient of the award. He pulled a four-year-old boy from a burning car after a wreck in December of last year.
